Well gang, we continue to follow the recruiting commitments around the clock.
And I just got word of another one.
John Jay rising senior Fletcher Franklin, whose strong play in goal down the stretch helped the Indian make their sixth straight sectional final appearance, has committed to Division III Kenyon in Gambier, Ohio.
Here’s a Q&A with Fletcher on his decision:
What were the main factors in your decision to attend Kenyon?
Kenyon was definitely the best school I could have gone to academically, which was a major factor in my choice. It’s also in a competitive conference which will let me play at a high level. Coach (Doug) Misarti also made me feel great about the program and how it’s run.
I visited Kenyon on Tuesday, Aug. 18. I was surprised by the diversity and the culture of the town. The campus was really nice the dorms are nice also. I definitely saw myself spending four years there.
What other schools were you considering and what other schools did you visit?
I was strongly considering Manhattanville and visited there earlier this month. I was also considering Lycoming, St. Michael’s and Kings.
Can you talk about the challenges for a goalie of finding the right school since colleges do not recruit nearly as many goalies as they do attackmen, midfielders and defensemen?
A lot of schools have already filled their goalie spot for my class, so I may have had less schools to choose from than field players. Since there is only one goalie spot I think a school really has to want you before they decide to contact you.

Congrats Fletch. Sounds like a perfect school for you. Joe, great question about recruiting opportunities for goalies which underscores how impressive it is for Fletcher to find a great program like this to take his talents to the next level.
Hey Fletcher, Congratuations, and best of luck!
