Will be interesting if SWR looks like the team that was surging at mid season or the one that slumped a bit down the stretch.
Joe – do you know what time the Section 1 Class B quarterfinal and semifinal games are next week?
Most intriguing matchup of the day is definitely Rocky Point and Smithtown West. Rocky Point has already defeated Comsewogue, who they would play if they won, but right now Smithtown West is playing better and improving. Although they are young, I’ll take them to win a close one, 9-8.
Excellent analysis. It’s really a tossup. I’ll go with SW 12-10 in a wild one.

Joe, everyone seems to be having difficulty figuring out the SOS or Power ranking they are using in CT. Do you have any insight into that and any projections for the FCIAC pairings and then the States?
A very shocking story. Not sure how many laxers worked out with him but a trainer who worked in Chappaqua was charged with murder in a 14 year old cold case. Just saw this …

Unlike NY, losses against out of state teams count against you in seeding in FCIAC.
O damn that is definately a shocking story about Eric.
That is a shocking story, but here’s one that incredibly upbeat considering the circumstances. It’s not lax-related but certainly is very human:
Son of the only person to die due to swine flu in NYC pitches a no-hitter in his first start following his father’s death:

One horrific story and one inspiring one. Thank you both, Greeley parent and Syracuse, for sharing the news with all of us.
Darien leads Norwalk 7-0 after the first quarter.
The Blue Wave now lead 13-0 after three after holding a 10-0 lead at the half.
Final scores
Chaminade 14, Holy Trinity 3 (CHSAA semifinals)
Darien 16, Norwalk 1
Greenwich 15 Trumbull 4
Smithtown West 8, Rocky Point 6
Comsewogue 7, Harborfields 6 (2OT)
SWR 11, Hills West 7
Sayville 11, Hauppauge 6
Very interesting day of LI lax. State finalist Rocky Point goes down in first round. ‘Wogue gets a big scare. Should be a wild ride.
What happened to Wilton? OT loss to McMahon….looking forward or backward?
Just making things more interesting for FCIAC… McMahon is decent, Wilton is good but everyone in CT is beatable this year.
Cards Lax
McMahon’s win over Wilton makes Town’s loss to Wilton more painful but as you say wins are “up for grabs” in CT and McMahon must be a pretty decent team
Tough loss. You want to build off a big win like Yorktown – not take a step back
Does anyone have thoughts on the FCIAC’s or Sates in CT? I’d love to see some analysis from the staff on this. How ’bout it Joe? With the wins last night and games still to play for some, the standings and seeds for all tournaments is changing day by day.
Tasker –
It’s hard to get too in-depth until we have the matchups. I do know Ridgefield will be the No. 1 seed and Darien No. 2.
But I will say this for now. There’s a lot more parity than ever before. We saw this last night with Brien McMahon beating Wilton after losing to St. Joseph’s by five goals.
Four-time state champ Darien, meanwhile, of course, lost to Ridgefield for the first time since 1984 the year the Blue Wave launched their varsity program.
And how about this? Westhill is 11-4 and has qualified for FCIACs for the first time ever. The Vikings will play at either Ridgefield or Darien on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
Having said all that, it sure does look like a Darien-Ridgefield final though. And if the Blue Wave get their leading returning scorer, Dartmouth-bound Nikki Dysenchuk back from an ACL injury that has sidelined him all season, it could give them a huge boost both in terms of scoring power and psychologically too.
What does everyone else think at this point?
A young Darien team has really grown and matured as the season has progressed. To think they basically had the game one against Ridgefield without their leading scorer from last year, Nikki, and top defenseman Corey Caputo is amazing. Darien wins the rematch 11-7.
Greeley parent –
Just a stunning story. Thanks for sharing the link. I also was able to pull up a story from yesterday’s Greenwich Time. Apparently he played football Eastchester and at UConn as well as the NFL and lived in Greenwich.

I think all the pressure was on Ridgefield in the first meeting, for many reasons I had listed in an earlier post. This time around I think that shifts to the Blue Wave. They are the defending champs and as I95 says had that game in their grasp before some bonehead decisions and unlucky shooting, along with clutch goaltendng by Hyatt and senior leadership by White led RHS to the victory. Darien needs to play every bit as well again, plus score at a better clip than they did earlier in order not to put themseves in a postiion where one goal decides matters. That is asking a heck of a lot and its up to Darien to show they are capable of all that. And its no given that they will get past Wilton either, so the pressure to perform is now all on t eBlue and White. WE’ll see how they respond.
If seeds hold out, looks like Darien has to get through Wilton and Ridgefield has to get through NC. I don’t think either is guaranteed. In fact it looks like an any given day type of tournament to me.
I saw the RF-NC game last week and I’m not impressed with RF at all. Looked as though Colsey had to really get in their faces to get them to play with any enthusiasm. Very poor 6v6 offense. If NC didn’t have so many stupid penalties it might have been a game. Not the same RF team as early season.
Olive-
Agree about Darien-Wilton. Depends on which Wilton team shows up…the one from the Ytown game or the one from the McMahon game.
Completely disagree about Ridgefield-NC. If you are going get there early.
