It didn’t take long for Darien’s own Cooper MacDonnell to show his preseason selection as ECAC offensive player of the year was on the mark.

The Loyola senior attackman was named ECAC offensive player of the week after starting the season by scoring six goals in an 8-7 overtime win against Navy. Then, this past Saturday, he scored two goals on two shots as the 10th-ranked Greyhounds improved to 2-0 by winning at Quinnipiac 11-5.

He will try to continue his red-hot scoring this week.

Loyola returns to action tomorrow at Bellarmine before facing Notre Dame at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Inside Lacrosse Konica/Minolta Face-Off Classic at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

MacDonnell was an all-American and team captain at Darien who finished his career as the Blue Wave’s all-time leading scorer.
