There are no Empire State Games this year, of course, but there will be a statewide lacrosse event featuring every region of the state. It’s the New York Shootout Presented by Nike, and it’s set for July 25 at Henninger High School in Syracuse.

The busiest — and for many travel teams, the final — week of the summer season is upon. There are several major recruiting events throughout the Northeast.

Ted Georgalas, who founded Mahopac’s varsity program and is one of the men most instrumental in the growth of Section 1 lacrosse, has joined Army’s program as an assistant coach.
