The #8 listing for John Jay shows great respect for New York teams by IL. That isn’t driven by magazine subscriptions; they probably have as many homes in Kat./Lew getting IL per capita than most places. But is Jamesville-DeWitt for real this year? Or is that just more NY respect than actual performance?

  2. Laxademic says:

Looking at JJ versus Ridgefield game tomorrow @ 3 pm: do the readers think that Ridgefield can keep it close? Unfortunately, key Ridgefield attack got hurt in yesterday’s game versus Wilton. An upset would rank high but probably not quite as high as Ridgefield upset of JJ in 2006 due to ascendance of Ridgefield program?

  3. Black and Gold says:

Look for the Friars to get on a roll against Yorktown on Saturday………………….

  4. Lax Novice says:

If St. Anthony scored the same eight goals vs. Chaminade and went from a 6 goal defeat to a two goal win, I’d say their defense has become much more formidable. After seeing Darien out up the shutout against Yorktown with regulars in, it’s not tough to think that the midfielder Schroder will outscore Yorktown by himself. Hope KI is more mobile tomorrow.

    St. Anthony 12 – Yorktown 4

Doesn’t matter who’s hurt, Ridgefield cares more about this game than John Jay. Classic trap game for the Indians.

    Ridgefield 10 – John Jay 8

  5. Beachlax says:

East Hampton beat Comsewogue 13 to 9

  6. Est 1873 says:

Kurt Mueller, the aforementioned Ridgefield attackman, had 17 goals and 33 assists for 50 points in 12 games…by comparison, Mike Daniello has 28 goals and 24 assists for 52 points in 14 games for the Indians…a huge loss for the Tigers…

  7. Joe Lombardi says:

One of the biggest wins – if not the biggest – in program history. The Bonackers led the entire game.

  8. Est 1873 says:

Not sure if that last post made it…Ridgefield lost starting attackman and Towson State University bound Kurt Mueller yesterday, extent of the injury is unknown. For a comparison, Mueller had 17 Goals and 33 Assists for 50 points in 12 games for the Tigers…Mike Daniello of John Jay has 28 Goals and 24 Assists for 52 points in 14 games…quite a loss for the Tigers…!

  9. Laximus says:

What a shame for Ridgefield. We’ll never know now most likely if Ridgefield with their leading scorer would’ve beaten John Jay. Now if they win without him I guess we would know the answer but how can Ridgefield beat the #8 team in the country without their leading scorer?

  10. Beachlax says:

Yes, yes they did. The defense was stellar, with Rob Aaronson, Dylan Greene and Peter Johanson causing turnovers, getting key ground balls and excellent clearing. Ian Zimmerman in goal was outstanding, Shaw excellent at faceoffs, and the offense was true to its ability to score in the double digits, and as always with multiple scorers. All came together for the Bonackers!

  11. Est 1873 says:

Well, if there is good news, Mueller is not their leading scorer….and I sense a bit of sarcasm, which is totally fine, it’s not an excuse for Ridgefield, just an unfortunate circumstance and bad timing, but that’s high school sports, and what makes it great and exciting…should still be a fun game to watch….

  12. IslandLaxpert says:

Another LI unbeaten team falls as GC beats Division 10-6.

    Also…

    CSH 10, Friends 9, OT
    Sayville 8, Islip 4
    Wantagh 17, Calhoun 6
    SWR 14, Bayport-Blue Point 3
Mt. Sinai 7, HHH West 3
    South Side 9, Bethpage 6

  13. Doid23 says:

I’m begging you all, PLEASE stop using the IL High School rankings as anything but fluff. I put a lot more stock in the boys on LaxPower’s weekly rankings, and they don’t even have Jay as a Top 25 Honorable Mention.

I don’t think Jay would look past Ridgefield, a much different situation than in 2006, where it WAS a trap game, coming after a tough 13-12 OT loss at Manhasset.

    Jay by 3.

  14. John FANagan says:

Don’t know what to expect tomorrow. KI is 7 goals away from greatness, but that has to be put away because a win is much more important. The same old question exists- which town is going to show up? For that matter, which St. A’s is going to show up? Both teams have been sporadic this year. Lets put it this way- if both teams play their bests, StA’s will go home with a victory. I see Town executing the gameplan, they love going down to the Island and pulling out some statement wins. Hopefully the midfield gets settled early and we put up a contest in the faceoff category. I’ll be there tomorrow so look for my updates on the blog.

Town wins a tight one, 10-8

The game between JJ and Ridgefield will be another barn burner… I think Ridgefield catches Pickel and his defense by surprise and puts up an upset… This game is a set up for JJ and a big test of character. A game that JJ should win, towards the end of the season, and for the most part a young team that should prosper in the state playoffs come next year (in my humble opinion, the favorite for a state title come 2011- but lets not get too far ahead)….

    Ridgefield 13 JJ 11

  15. relax says:

FANagan, do you ever pick against Town? 🙂

I don’t think it is a question of which town team shows up — I really haven’t bought into this jekyll and hyde theory. The way I see it, they have lost to teams better than them and beaten teams that they should have beaten (with the exception of Chaminade, but I think that had a bit to do with the Flyers being asleep for three and half quarters — they scored 4 unanswered in the last few minutes and looked like they could have come all the way back). St. Anthony’s is a better team, and should win comfortably.

  16. Old Rugger says:

    JJ 10 Field 8
    St A’s 10 Town 9
