In some ways, the comments on this blog are a barometer — literally.
We’ve had plenty of up and downs this season to measure too.
What does it all mean? Well, in a nutshell — who knows?
Here are the thoughts of “Doid23,” a transplanted fan from the Hudson Valley who now follows the act back East from his new home in Texas. His comments are from the “A look back and a look ahead” thread.
Comment by “Doid23”:
“The only thing we know about Section 1 so far this season is that we dont know. Town looks average, Town looks great, Town looks average. Somers is the best team in the section, theyre down, they could be the best team in the section. Watch out for L/P, oof, they lose to Mercer Island, they beat Town a week after Town dominates Chaminade. If you told me that John Jay was 10-1, their only loss was to one of the Top 5 teams in the country, and they beat Town, Somers, Syosset and Corning East, I would say that they are back to their Bocklet/ Daniello days, but they could lose to a handful of Section teams and no one would be stunned.
“I think the teams that wins Sectionals will be the ones who find their groove at the right time, pure and simple. There are no clear favorites for any of the classes. If I take of my JJ hat, and the whole Sec 1 vs. other regions view, this will be the most interesting sectionals in quite some time, and there is nothing wrong with that.”

Doid pretty much sums it up … well.
The only thing that I’m fairly certain of going forward is John Jay will win the Class B sectional crown and then have a war with Niskayuna. Thinking beyond that is probably more insane than thinking up to that point.
Who is winning Class A and C is anyone’s guess. I’d like to believe Yorktown will play its best lacrosse from early May forward, which has been traditionally the case, but to speak with any confidence or certainty at this point would be a recipe for foot-in-mouth disease.
Putnam Valley should win Class C, but what about …. insert team here.
The next three weeks will be very interesting, maybe as competitive as any three weeks in the history of Section 1. Prepare yourself for many things that have traditionally not made sense,
It’s the NWO of today’s high school game.
This is a great post. There is so much parity. I mean look at West Islip – they are the top program in the region and who ever heard of them 10 years ago? Its a whole new landscape.
Two words
Horace Greeley
cuse – instert this for class C – Bronxville
hvlax – two words – win games
Cuse,
I couldn’t let P&G get away with his Class C Bville insert so:
Let’s see: My insert for Class C is……………………….Rye!!
Slacrosse – haaa! Way to keep me honest.
I forget that Rye is in “C”. Final four of Put Valley, Rye, Bronxville and Pleasantville – would be interesting given the disparate schedules each team has played.
P&G
Hey, you can’t hide from me! Yeah Rye moves to “B” next season.
If strength of sched. matters and helps teams when it comes time for playoffs, then PV/Rye come in with a big advantage.
But that’s just “on paper”. In thjis crazy season who knows what will happen on any given day when the “play-off juices” are churning!!
I have heard nothing but good things about what Bronxville is trying to do down there, but ultimately this year boils down to PV and Rye, as usual.
Whomever wins the C title in Section 1 should look at that accomplishment the same as winning the state because it will all end in a hurry in the state semis.
By the way, where are the state semis this year? Middletown again? As usual, my backyard is available. Just sayin.
Oh come on Cuse!
Can’t you see it? Cornell bound McCormack dominates the FO’s vs Manhassat’s Syracuse bound Buhr and Michael Collins who did a great job vs. Daniello shuts off Penn bound Belinsky. Done deal. Rye wins!! Hey it’s simple game!
Sorry, they only let me out of the “institution” for Rye lacrosse games.
If any of that happens I’m sure you won’t be the only one wearing a white coat.
