Cold Spring Harbor’s 8-6 win over Syosset earned it a spot in the latest Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse national power rankings, which were released today.

CSH checks in at No. 11. Syosset, meanwhile, slipped from No. 5 to No. 13.

Other teams in the region moved up in the rankings.

Neither West Islip nor St. Anthony’s has opened the season. Nevertheless, West Islip moved up to the No. 2 spot from No. 3. St. Anthony’s, buoyed by a dominating performance at the Red/Gray Shootout at Somers, was bumped up to No. 8 from No. 10. Manhasset, which opened the season with a 12-4 win over Sayville, slid up to No. 10 from No. 13.

Yorktown (No. 21), Darien (22) and Chaminade (24) retained their spots from last week’s rankings.

    Observer,

Now c’mon now … Let’s not be antagonizing anyone.

Think of it this way: Yorktown is barely ever ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Top 25 anymore, even when they are good. Not being in that poll is not the end of the world because I don’t see the science in it.

Now I would be concerned if Jay ever fell out of the LaxLessons Regional Top 25. After all, that’s the only real poll.

plenty of you guys know the history of this sport better than I. I grew up knowing Yorktown as top dog in a couple sports one definitely lacrosse (and football) when you see their scoreboard. I am 27 (a 2000 graduate) so in my day I did see mighty Yorktown fall to Ward Melville almost routinely if I remember correctly, then again we were rivals with Yorktown in football so I may have just only remembered what I wanted to.

Any you guys have a general idea of how the two matched up head to head ?? My answer to the poll question falls with one of these two programs, maybe its neither but I wouldnt know lol

    Out of country (back soon).

To see Town and other traditional, regional power houses ranked below teams from Fla, Co, and Oh is a joke. We all know this. These particular teams ARE very good BUT the depth and quality of the teams that these “ranked” teams plays cannot compare with the teams that Town, Delbarton, Darien, etc play.

As Joe does, Under Armour should just supply us with regional rankings and these should come from KNOWLEDGEABLE people from the regions. Then leave it to us if we choose to unnofficially debate as to whether any of these teams might belong in the rankings–but to have someone “officially” include them in a national ranking–sorry–no way

    slacrosse,

Brother, how ya been? Good to hear from you. I put up a post on an interview I did with Coach Dooley, which should interest you. We hope you contribute with your usual zeal throughout the season. Get home safe my friend.
