A pair of Section 1 title-game newbies highlight the first day of title-round action in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess counties at Mahopac High School.
Wappingers becomes the first Dutchess-based team to make it to the final, playing perennial finalist Lakeland/Panas in Class A.
In the 7 p.m. Class C title game, neighboring rivals Pleasantville, the two-time defending champ, square off.
Moving to Connecticut, three-time defending state champ Darien will have a 50-game winning streak if it defeats Ridgefield in the title game in Norwalk.
On Long Island, Suffolk Class A semifinal games are highlight by the Battle of Smithtown as West meets the Red Bulls on the east side. In the other Final Four game at Islip HS, Hills East takes on Ward Melville in a clash of red-hot teams.
