The all-time single-season scoring leader in Connecticut state history has decided where he will get his points across in college.
Rising senior Henry Hunt of Old Lyme High School has committed to Hamilton College, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
Hunt scored 107 goals and 156 points this past season to break the state record.
The previous record for most points, by Andrew Fiamengo of New Fairfield, is 147 set in 2008. Hunt’s 107 goals are the second-highest single-season total in state history, behind only New Fairfield’s Sean Macy, who had 115 goals in 2007.
Hunt is a lefty finisher with a strong and accurate shot and high lacrosse IQ.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Henry on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
I chose Hamilton because of the great academics, the opportunity to play in the NESCAC, and the atmosphere of the school.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Middlebury, Williams, Washington and Lee, and Union. I visited Middlebury and Williams.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My main strengths as a player would be my stick skills and my vision as a dodger. I would describe my game as an all around attackman who can attack the cage from all angles.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
The main things I need to work on are my right handed shooting as well as getting stronger.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I was introduced to lacrosse by my friends in 1st grade, I used to play soccer and basketball and I still run Indoor Track.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for Bulldogs Lacrosse Club as well as 3d Canada. We participated in NSCLA, Crab City, FLG in 3d, Baltimore Summer Kickoff and Legacy.
Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I would like to thank my teammates as well as Coach Murphy and Coach Fay for helping me to have success on the field. I also would like to thank my family for all the support over the years.
