Spring officially begins at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
At that point in time, the tristate region should be at the height of a “winter” storm moving through the region that could produce as much as 6 inches of accumulation in some portions of the nation’s No. 1 hotspot for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region.
But with the storm expected to wind down by midnight, and, with Saturday temperatures expected to reach the mid 40s, the storm shouldn’t have a longterm impact on the hotspot.
However, games schedules for Friday, including several openers in Suffolk County on Long Island, could be in jeopardy.
One Suffolk squad does not have to worry about the storm, however. Section 11 power Sachem North will open its season Friday night at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with a 7 p.m. game against Archbishop Spaulding, from the lacrosse tradition-rich and proud Baltimore area.
The status of these scheduled games on Long Island will be TBD:
William Floyd (NY) at Harborfields (NY), 4:30 p.m.
Bay Shore (NY) at East Islip (NY), 4:30 p.m.
Carey (NY) at Lynbrook (NY), 4:30 p.m.
