West Virginia may not be known for lacrosse, but it’s where Jordan Bogle found his perfect college fit.
The senior attackman at defending CHSAA AA city champion Iona Prep has verballed to D-II Alderson Broaddus in the Mountain State, a decision first reported when it was made by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
The 5-foot-7, 200-pound Bogle is a powerful righty shooter who uses his size well to create space and get open looks.
Bogle becomes IP’s second 2015 commit, joining Ithaca College-bound midfielder Brendon Lao.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Jordan on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
Finding a small school where academics are equally important as athletics was a big deal to my family and I, and I feel i really found that. Another major factor was that the coaching staff at AB was great and really went out of there way for my family and I to make me feel at home on my visit.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Lees-Mcrae, Dominican College, Mount Saint Mary, Mount Saint Vincent and Roger Williams University.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My biggest strength is my outside shooting ability. My style of play is very active. I’m always dodging or cutting to the ball.
I like to use my size to get separation from my defender to my hands free to feed or shoot.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
I feel the biggest area of my game i need to work on is my speed.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I first started playing lacrosse, and that is the only high school sport I have played.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I played with NYC Empire, Head Heart Hustle, City Stars Lacrosse, Red Water, and I played in super sophs.
Any final thoughts?
I’d like to thank my mother and father for supporting all my lacrosse needs. I would also like to that my coaches former coaches Billy Dransfield, Tom Dooley, and Mike Collins.
My biggest thank you’s go out to Iona Prep head coach Rick Trizano, my former head coach Joe Capalbo, and my teammates and friends who have helped to get me better.
