Spencer Kaufman has proven his prowess on Long Island.

One of the top midfielders in Nassau County, the big, strong lefty for Calhoun High School is a two-time Team Nassau selection.

Now, he hopes to achieve similar success on another Island — Staten Island.

The Class of 2015 standout has has verballed to Wagner, which is a huge pickup for the Seahawks.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Kaufman, a strong dodger, also has good speed to go along with his size.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Spencer on his commitment.

What were the main factors of your decision?
When I visited Wagner, I fell in love with the campus, and felt really comfortable with all the coaches.

Wagner also gives me the opportunity for a great future, and I really think the program is headed in the right direction.

What other schools were you considering, and what schools did you visit?
I visited Fairfield, West Point, Monmouth, Providence and Stevenson.

I strongly considered Cortland, Drexel and Tampa as well.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
Definitely my size and speed. When I dodge, I use my speed, and body to get my hands free for a shot. I like to run and gun.

What areas of your game do you need to work on?
I would like to get my right hand as strong as my left.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I started playing lacrosse in kindergarten, it was a part of my family. I played football, and wrestled as well.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for Be the Best, and participated in Jake Reed, and the Long Island Showcase for Team Nassau 2 times.

Any final thoughts?
I would like to thank my friends, family, and coaches. I couldn’t have done it without their support.
