It’s the busiest time of year for recruiting news. Get caught up right here, right now by visiting LaxLessons.com’s groundbreaking, imitated, but never duplicated Lacrosse Insider. It’s the No. 1 source and unparalleled leader for recruiting news, analysis and information in the NY/NJ/CT tristate region and the entire lax galaxy.
Few varsity programs in the tristate region have had the success in sending lacrosse players to collegiate programs that Suffolk County (NY) power Smithtown West has enjoyed of late.
The latest came earlier this week when Class of 2015 attackman/midfielder RJ Ehli decided on Division III Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, a decision first report by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
The 6-foot, 162-pound Ehli, a righty, is a feeder/finisher with a high lacrosse IQ.
Now, here’s a Q&A with RJ on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision? The campus and the coaches. The campus was absolutely beautiful and was what I pictured, and the coaching staff is awesome and really focused on the aspects of college just besides lacrosse. They talked about how they like to help get players internships and try to set up jobs, and I thought that was one of the main factors.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit? I was considering a couple of other D-III schools such as Roger Williams, Mary Washington, Franklin & Marshall, Endicott, Muhlenberg and Roanoke.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My high lacrosse IQ, I have a pretty good ability of getting open and finishing the ball, also my drive to finish my senior season with a championship. Losing in the semis and losing nine great starters was rough, but it is also motivating me to work harder and make sure that doesn’t happen this year to the team.
Any final thoughts?
My parents were a great help in all of my accomplishments pushing me to work harder and be the best that I could be, and also my dad has taught me everything about lacrosse and got me started in 2nd grade, hes been like my own personal coach throughout the years. and also to my mentor, Sean Hickey. Last but not least i’d just like to say that I cant wait to get at it with my team mates this year, including Zack Lamberti, Brandon Felice, Anthony Kehrer, Dan Carosous, Max Mohrman Garret Brunsvold Brett DiSalvo and last but not least Jimmy Caddigan.
