It’s the busiest time of year for major D-I commitments in the nation’s No. 1 hotspot for lacrosse, the NY/NJ/CT tristate region. Get caught up right here, right now.

Sean Morris had his pick of the nation’s top Division I programs.

In the end, the Class of 2017 midfielder from Brunswick School (CT) couldn’t find a better fit than the University of North Carolina.

The Stamford, Conn., resident is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound natural righty who is strong with both hands. He has good size, speed and shooting and dodging ability.

recruiting_updateNow, here’s a Q&A with Sean on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
I wanted a big school with great academics and I wanted to play for a team that will compete for a national championship each year.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Michigan, Duke, Princeton and Penn.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths include my vision and my on the run shot both righty and lefty.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to work on getting my shot off more quickly and my off-hand as a whole.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I started playing lacrosse in Norwalk for coach Jeff Erdmann because my town did not have a youth program at the time. I have also been playing basketball and football since I was young.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for the Eclipse Lacrosse Club and I attended Maverik Showtime.

Any final thoughts?
I would like to thank Coach David Bruce, Coach Gilsenan and Coach Garnett at Brunswick School and I would also like to thank Coach Jamie Hanford and Chip Buzzeo of Eclipse Lacrosse Club.

I would especially like to thank Coach (Joe) Breschi and the rest of the North Carolina staff. And a special thanks to my family for always being there for me.
