It’s one of the most meaningful events during the varsity season each year in the tristate region and it was held once again on Saturday.
The Louis Acompora Memorial Jamboree, played on Long Island at Northport’s Vet Park, honors the memory of Louis Acompora, who died at age 14 in March 2000 after a blow to his chest while playing lacrosse during his first high school game in Northport.
Host Northport wrapped up the event by beating Sachem East 13-7 as Rocco Sutherland hadthree goals and two assists. (Pictured here.)
In Game 1, Islip beat Harborfield 9-8 as Chris Grando had four goals for Islip, which led 8-5 at the half.
TJ Tiernan had three goals and one assist and 16 groundballs as Elwood-John Glenn beat Comsewogue 12-6 in the second game.
In Game 3, Sachem North won its fifth straight game, beating three-time Section 1 (NY) Class C champion and 2013 state champ Bronxville 6-5 as Michael Calvagna won 13-of-15 faceoffs and Jacob Giacalone made 10 saves.
