Dominic Castiglia has made his mark in Central New York.
The lefty attackman at Liverpool High School played on Team Syracuse in the National Brine All-American Classic.
The junior will be playing his college lacrosse in Connecticut, verballing to the new Division II program at Post University lacrosse in Waterbury, Conn., a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
The 6-foot, 167-pound Castiglia is a talented offensive player who can score from inside or out.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Dominic on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
(Post University Head) Coach (Jim) Griffin made me feel at home and comfortable on campus. Also, I want to be a part of their new and up-and-coming lacrosse program.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was considering Rutgers University and McGill Universty.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I am a strong inside finisher and have a great outside shot. I am also capable of dishing out assists for the middies cutting down towards the net.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
I recognize that my one-on-one dodging needs some work, so that is why I have been working with a personal trainer.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I was first introduced to the game of lacrosse through a Liverpool Camp when I was in the third grade. Along with lacrosse, I have played hockey.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I played on the CNY Road Hawks travel team in the summer of 2012 where I participated in the NSCLA Cup at Delaware University and the Young Guns tournament at the Maryland Soccer Plex. In the summer of 2013, I was on Team Syracuse for the National Brine All-American Classic.
