Brian Prestreau is relaunching the start of his collegiate career.
The 2013 All-American at Yorktown High School (N.Y.), who this spring scored 67 goals (the second-highest single-season total for a midfielder in school history) has had a change of heart.
Prestreau, who committed to and enrolled at Stony Brook University, has decided to transfer to Penn State University after the fall semester, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
Prestreau officially decided to transfer out of Stony Brook on Nov. 11 and obtained a release from the Seawolves at that time.
“I didn’t feel at home there and it just wasn’t the the right fit for me and my family,” Prestreau said of Stony Brook.
Jan. 12 will be Prestreau’s first official day on the PSU campus and he will be eligible to play for the Nittany Lions this spring.
Before deciding on Penn State, he also considered Maryland, Syracuse, Towson and Drexel.
“I visited Penn State this past weekend,” Prestreau said. “I loved everything about the school. Beautiful campus, amazing academics and athletics. I also got along with players on the team very well and it just felt like home to me.”
