The college season is now officially over.
But we’ve got plenty of championships yet to be decided at the high school level.
By week’s end, we will know what teams will be competing in the Long Island girls championship games on Sunday, June 3 at Dowling College and in the downstate boys semifinals at Hofstra University on Wednesday, June 6.
In case you missed it here over the Memorial Day weekend, Connecticut boys and girls teams are set, with action beginning this Wednesday, May 30. You can check them out here. Of note on the boys side in Class M, Darien and Wilton are on the same side of the bracket opposite New Canaan, meaning a Saturday, June 9 state final between FCIAC champion New Canaan vs. either Darien or Wilton is a strong possibility.
Half of the field for Saturday’s Long Island boys championships at Stony Brook University will be decided today in the Section 8 (Nassau County) title games at Hofstra University.
Here’s the lineup for the tripleheader:
Class C
No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor vs. No. 3 Friends Academy, 3:30 p.m.
Class A
No. 1 Massapequa vs. No. 2 Syosset, 6 p.m.
Class B
No. 1 Garden City vs. No. 2 Wantagh, 8:30 p.m.
You can watch each of the games live on msgvarsity.com. The three Section 8 class championships games can also be seen on a tape-delay basis on MSG Varsity iO Channel 14 on the follow days and times on Long Island: (Class A): Wednesday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m.; (Class B): Wednesday, May 30 at 10 p.m.; and (Class C): Thursday, May 31 at 4 p.m.
The downstate Catholic semifinals are set for today at Iona Prep as city champion Iona Prep hosts Long Island champion Kellenberg at 4:30 p.m. The winner plays in the state final on Saturday at Kellenberg.
With the games bigger than ever, don’t forget to check in early and often with in-game updates and final scores from the field with your mobile devices. You can post them directly as comments on this thread, or, if it’s easier, email them to us at info@laxlessons.com.
