Before we get to today’s high school action in the nation’s No. 1 hotbed for lacrosse, the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tristate area, we have a quick college update.
NCAA Tournament selections were announced yesterday.
Here’s the rundown:
Now, before we begin previewing today’s high school schedule, here’s a quick look back at last week.
Among the highlights: Fairfield Prep dealt previously unbeaten Chaminade its first loss of the season in arguably the biggest upset of the season in the tristate; Darien picked up another statement win against a Long Island power by edging St. Anthony’s; and, as expected, Garden City won the 121st Woodstick Classic.
As we preview today’s matchups, we take a look back to Saturday.
Fairfield Prep, fresh off the win over Chaminade, returns to action with a 4:30 p.m. game against Greenwich at Fairfield University’s Alumni Field.
Also of note, Wilton hosts Fairfield Warde in a 4:30 p.m. game at Fujitani Field.
After an 11-0 start, Dobbs Ferry was handed a loss for the first time this season, falling 6-4 to Pelham (11-1). Today, Dobbs faces another stern test when it plays at Edgemont (9-4) at 4:30 p.m.
Pelham, meanwhile, also has a huge test of its own when it takes on defending Section 1 Class C champion Bronxville (10-1) at 4:30 p.m. at Bronxville. Bronxville won Round 1 of the regular-season series against the Pelicans 10-4 on April 20.
In another interesting Section 1 encounter, Clarkstown South (9-3) visits Arlington (6-6) at 5:15 p.m.
Also in Section 1, Eastchester hosts Scarsdale at 4:30 p.m., Mamaroneck plays at New Rochelle at 4:30 p.m., and Yorktown looks to win its seventh straight when its hosts White Plains at 4:30 p.m.
In a Section 1 vs. Section 9 clash, Tappan Zee (6-5) hosts Monroe-Woodbury at 4:30 p.m.
It’s a light day on Long Island.
Garden City, fresh off the Woodstick win, plays at Calhoun and Huntington hosts Southampton at 4:30 p.m. and Half Hollow Hills East visits Sachem North at 5 p.m.
That’s a look at some of the marquee matchups in the tristate region today. Scroll down to check the links to access the complete schedules.

very tuff to predict these NCAA’s, any of the seeded teams can stake a claim..depth a big factor for memorial day weekend..I’m going Duke vs Hop in the final, with the Jay’s capturing NCAA championship #10…
Just because it’s tuff, unlike you I’m not gonna duck predictions and going out there with: Loyola over Canisius!!
wait, didn’t I make a prediction? as for yours, Loyola maybe. but Canisius?

Too Much Hype around Pelham’s Win over Dobbs. Bville’s a Lock for Sect.1 C Champs. We’ll find Out More about the Bronco’s Chances in States when the “Not Enough Referees Game” vs Somers gets played in a week.
Yeah, saw part of Bville/Pel–teams way far apart in all ways–except for Landis at LSM. Last possibilities against Bville are upset wins by Byram Hills or Putnam Valley.
Relax, I have to agree with your comment that Bronxville is the creme of Class C. And I agree that both Pelham and Dobbs Ferry are not serious contenders. I think the serious contender to Bronxville is Byram. Byram plays most of their games against fairly strong competition( i.e. mostly Class B and strong out of state teams-Kinnelon and Weston) which should help when playing the likes of Bronxville. It would be a huge upset but one that could happen. So let’s get through this week and let the playoffs begin next week.
Would not consider it a “huge” upset if BH beat Bville.
Anybody beating Bville in C would be a Major Upset. In line with L/P losing in A & ‘town losing in B, but Bville losing in C at this point would be a bigger upset then both. Something tells me PV is the 2nd best team, but they’re not gonna beat Bville. Of course anything can happen if Bville doesn’t show-up for a playoff game.
PV is very young 2 soph & Jr at attack. Same on Defense. They’ll have to grow up quickly.
bville starting attack- freshman a soph and jr.
middies sr. jr. soph
LSM soph.
defense sr, jr Freshman
I dont think many people counted on bville being a good team this year after losing 2 AA last year. With only graduating 4 seniors this year. i think Bville will be good for next few years!!! Good job on the coaches for building a strong foundation there!
