There are, of course, many differences between college football and college lacrosse.
One of the main ones is in recruiting.
In football, it is rare for varsity stars to commit prior to their senior season. Many of the top prospects, in fact, do not decide on a college until the start of the February signing period prior to their enrollment in college later in the year.
In lacrosse, as we all know by now, most of the top recruits commit by early in their junior year. Some sooner.
If you’ve been checking out our “Updated recruiting review and commitment rundown” each day, you’ve been keeping up with these commitments as they’ve been made, with more info, insights, analysis and reaction provided in this space.
So though Wednesday marks Day 1 of the National Letter of Intent Fall Signing Week, there will be few, if any surprises — or even new news — between now and next Wednesday, Nov. 16. At least among the seniors from the nation’s No. 1 lax hotbed, the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region, who will make their preexisting verbal commitments to Division I and II college programs official by signing binding National Letters of Intent. (Football is not among the sports included in this week’s signing period.)
For those whose commitments have already been reported here and who will be making it official Nov. 9-16, be sure to send along any photos of players from the region signing Letters of Intent to us at info@laxlessons.com for use here.
In the meantime, here’s a rundown of D-I and D-II senior recruits from the region, most of whom are expected to sign Letters of Intent this week. (Remember, not all D-I conferences that are included here are part of the NLI program, and the military academies and the Ivy League are not part of the NLI process. )
