8-5 Shen Bota with Goal Final
8-5 final Shen wins. Congrats Pac on a great season.
Yes congrats to Pac for a great season. They’ll be a force again next season.
Thanks Sla, It was a great season, and while we lose some great seniors that will be moving on the future looks bright. Lots of good young players to mix in with those returning.
We will miss our seniors
One All-American and 5 All-Section players on that offense, have to produce more than 5 goals regardless of the keeper. Town and L/P both found ways to get to him earlier this year. Saw Shen play both L/ P and Town, and Pac had just as much talent going into this one as Shen. Pac was far too predictable on offense again (part of the reason they struggled in the finals to score goals). Can’t rely solely on the same 3-4 kids to take one on one shots from outside against a good goalie. Would have liked to have seen more ball movement, and off ball play from them with the players they have.
Well said. When you attack the net good things happen. We were not aggressive enough. Props to Shen’s D, but they were beatable. By not taking it to the net more, it was way to easy for their D, especially in the first half.
How many times have you seen Pac play? Because they have never ran a 1-4-1 offense this year. Don’t think you really know to much about lax. L/P played a zone on Pac because they couldn’t match up man to man. Shen played there triangle zone, which is much like the backer zone that WM used to run. So with that being said you have to attack the zone, draw the backer and bang the ball back side. which Pac did and got some good looks on cage, kids have to finish the ball. To a layman eye this is a very boring style of Lax. But when you have a legit goalie this d. work well because it invites outside shots.
Thats why PAC offense wasn’t as explosive in L/P and Shen.
Mahopac had a really good bounce back season and they should be proud of what they accomplished. Shen and Nisky are just better programs right now than the best Section 1 has to offer in Class A. It took decades for Nisky to get to the point where they could be a serious threat in the state tournament. Now, it’s Shen’s turn. And these two may be going at it like this for the next 10-20 years. The question is, will Mahopac and Lakeland/Panas be able to catch up?
I wonder if anyone knows this: is Shen coach Chuck Holohan the same Chuck Holohan who played close D at Oswego State in the late 1980s and early ’90s? If so, he was one mean dude. Big, tough and would lay lumber.
L/P beat Shen last year in the tournament, and lost to them in OT this year with a sub par team for them. L/P seem to be on the right track to compete down the road in future years.
Cuse,
I dont know Shen that well except they’re good and in particular have a great goalie who is gone next season. Maybe misunderstood you but sounds like your saying Shen is so deep in the future that Class A will have to play catch up ball to match Shen (or Nisky) for yrs to come? That’s a pretty strong statement.

In a surprisingly close game at the half, six-time defending Connecticut Class M state champ Darien leads Fairfield-Ludlowe 4-2. Darien’s Case Matheis left the game early on with a leg injury. The first quarter ended in a 1-1 tie.

Jake Mason gets his second for Ludlowe, which pulls within 5-3 with four minutes left in the third. 5-3 Darien.
Darien has stretched the lead to 7-3 after three.
Has to be tough to get up a third time when the first two were 17-1 type games. Hope Matheis is only out as a precaution
Graham Maybell scores his second goal. Blue Wave now on top 9-3 early in the fourth.
Henry West gets his third. 10-3 Darien midway through fourth.
Final: 10-6 Darien.

Kr – BBP leads 9-6 late in the third quarter. You can updates from MSG Varsity’s Jared Greenberg on Twitter @MSGV_Jared or by clicking here.
Hey Joe any early reads on BBP?
WLax – BBP is playing well and with a lot of confidence. The Phantoms really play well as a team. They get balanced scoring and have a strong group of seniors who know their roles. Last year, BBP fell to Glenn 11-6 in the Suffolk title game and has really come back with a sense of purpose this season.

Note:
Darien (19-2) is going to the State Final Four for the 24th consecutive time. Facing Wilton on Wednesday – time and site tbd.
Wow-Surprised only a 5 goal margin and that’s with West playing!
Matheis was injured in the first minute and did not return. Another sloppy performance for the Wave. Darien did get its act together and build a 10-3 before they pulled starters and ran out the clock, but they will need to play better against Wilton.
Dale/WI???
Farmingdale has jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the second quarter.
You can get score updates from MSG Varsity’s Jared Greenberg on Twitter @MSGV_Jared or by clicking here.
Bronxville up 8-5 vs Glens Falls late in first half
Bronxville up 10-6 early in the 4th
Bronxville wins 12-8
WI Dale tied 7-7 after 3.
Going into OT – another OT game for WI. Crazy!
Dalers win 10-9 in OT!
West Islip’s 40-game win streak ends. The Lions were 4-0 in overtime games prior to falling today.
After one quarter in the CT quarterfinals, New Fairfield leads Branford 4-1.
New Fairfield leads 6-3 at the half.
Fairfield Prep edged Greenwich 10-9.
Other CT quarterfinal scores not yet posted:
New Canaan 10, East Lyme 4
Wilton 13, Guilford 1
Barlow 17, Ellington 4
St. Joe’s 8, Ledyard 1
NF leads 10-4 after three.
Ridgefield win 17 – 5 over Conner in CT class L (13 – 2 at half…game never close)
No Case…No Championship for Darien….Period!
Wrong, Darien is a program not a player
No truer words have been spoken…with Case out, the title is ours again!!
Yawn.
There may have been a slight bit of sarcasm in that statement LN. We all know if he can’t go it isn’t like they drop off a cliff w Henry West sliding down. Not ideal, but Wilton’s been hurt by the Darien team not just one player
The guy who has done the most damage against Wilton lately on offense has been Henry West. You’re correct that it’s a testament to Darien’s depth that Alex Brown can slide in and be effective when called upon where most teams would be lost (see Jay, John) when an All-America attackman is unavailable for an important game. While we’re talking about yesterday, let’s give Coach Parisi and the Fairfield-Ludlowe Falcons full credit for planning and executing their game plan in a total team effort. They stepped up to the challenge from the first minute on, unlike some recent opponents. Eventually Darien’s depth and defensive pressure took it’s toll, but Ludlowe can rightly hold their heads high this morning.
Wilton will be another tough game on Wednesday, wherever it’s held. That’s a proud team with lots of seniors prepared to give all to do what many predecesors haven’t. Thankfully Case and everyone else who is banged up a bit for the Wave will have three days to heal before taking on the Warriors.
Lastly, congrats to Mike Francia on becoming Wilton’s career scoring leader, surpassing Peter McMahon yesterday. Well done on an exemplary career.
Any update on Garden City game?
GC/SWR game started late bc of WI-Dale going into OT.
It’s 1-1 late in the first quarter.
Garden City leads SWR 4-2 at the half. The Trojans ended the half on a 3-0 run.
You can get score updates from MSG Varsity’s Jared Greenberg on Twitter @MSGV_Jared or by clicking here.
It’s 6-2 GC after three quarters.
8-4 GC midway through the fourth.
Final: 9-4 GC.
It will be GC vs. Yorktown renewing a tradition-rich postseason rivalry in the state semis on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at White Plains High School’s Glenn D. Loucks Memorial Field.

GC has to be favored. They have a ton of talent and are looking to get some revenge for last year. Their D is great and will have to be I think. Yorktown is a strong offensive team. This is a team that played SM West and St Anthony’s to one goal games, lost to Darien by 3 and so on. Young team that seems to be playing well at right time. GC has played two tough teams in a row which helps them I think. They should be on top of their game. Yorktown should be fresh. They haven’t played 3 qtrs since John Jay game. Helps the game is at WP for Town, they know the field well. They have played their the last two section finals. I say GC by 2 but wouldnt be surprised to see a Town win.
Bronxville Bayport game will be interesting. Two 1st time participants I believe. I say Bayport by 6. Bronxville is good but hasnt beaten a legit team all year as far as state level competition. It could be closer but I will lean with the Phantoms for now. Cool nickname by the way.
Dalers vs Shen may be a great game as well. Shen is playing well. They have some D1 talent on the team starting with a Syracuse bound goalie. They have rallied to lose only 1 game all year. They lost to Town by 1 early in the year. Dalers are smoking right now and Ill take them in this one. They have to be riding high right now but need to come down to earth quick for the Plainsmen can play. Ill take the Dalers by 4 but if Shens keeper gets hot, hold on.
Nice analysis and agree with winners.
GC by 5 but if Town is really on particularly its D, Town could pull off upset. They’ve almost beaten great teams.
Have to go with BP as you know they’ve beaten top teams so you assume they must be pretty good. Bville has some D1 players on O who are very good but they’ve beaten no one so no way to judge of they’re good enough to beat a very good team. BP by 6 sounds OK.
Yes Dalers by 5
Go Town and Bville!
slacrosse it’s proof is in the pudding time for our playing someone theory. Town played everyone this year & are rolling along, possibly ready to shock a bIgtime team like GC. Town throttles burnt hills today. Hopefully they’re peaking.
Bville’s a different story. They’re in uncharted waters. They didn’t throttle their sect.2 team GF. They need to wake-up & get a swagger!
Town’s fans will represent @ WP it’s time to go to battle! Homefield advantage for sure.
Bronco faithful need to wake-up too!
Both teams have a chance.
I like town’s because they’ll be prepared, ready, & know what it’s like. Bville has a less dominant opponent, but because of the lack of being tested & playing unimpressive vs GF they lose! Town needs to finally get that great win vs a great team that they’ve been able to accomplish all yr or they lose too. It’ll be fun to watch what happens
Town needs that great win against a great team that’s eluded them all yr, although they beat ShenLax early this yr! Go Huskers! It’s time to shock the NY Lax world one more time!
Town 9-8 🙂
