Well, it wasn’t a game. But yesterday’s scrimmage between two of the top teams in the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region sure did get a lot of interest. In case you missed the post-scrimmage reaction (that’s got to be the first time I’ve used that phrase), be sure to check our “Gameday” thread from yesterday by clicking here.
We should have at least one more day — this Saturday — in which preseason creates a buzz, with big tournaments in Darien and Somers. But there will also be some actual big games in Long Island, headlined by Garden City vs. Smithtown West.
We’ll get to today’s varsity slate in a second, including a game for Suffolk County power Sachem North during a preseason trip to North Carolina. Also of note, Cold Spring Harbor hopes to improve to 2-0 with a game against Hicksville and Chaminade hosts a Holy Trinity team coming off a big win against Farmingdale.
