Teams from throughout the Hudson Valley/Long Island/Connecticut region, including mainly squads from the Nutmeg State, will be joining together for a good cause from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27.

That’s when the fifth annual Sticks for Soldiers Classic will be held at Fairfield Ludlowe High School in Fairfield.

Participating teams including host Fairfield Ludlowe, as well as Ridgefield, Fairfield Prep, Staples, Brien McMahon, Joel Barlow and Daniel Hand.

Games will be played in a 7-on-7 format, with each team playing a minimum of three games. There are varsity and sub-varsity divisions.

All proceeds will benefit Brendan Marrocco, 22, an Army specialist from Staten Island,  who is undergoing physical theraphy at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., after a vehicle he was being transported in was hit by an Explosive Fired Projectile in Iraq and he became the first veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to lose all four limbs in combat and survive.

Donations on behalf of Ridgefield’s participation in the event may be sent by checks made out to Sticks for Soldiers/Fairfield and sent to 24 Tea House Lane, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

So great to see lax teams/players rally behind causes bigger than themselves and their teams.
