After an initial statement alleging that certain Yorktown boys lacrosse players engaged in “harassing and intimidating behavior” toward members of the Somers girls lacrosse team, Somers Superintendent Raymond Blanch clarified those charges on Thursday.

Blanch said Somers has concluded there is no evidence of any sexual harassment of the girls’ team.

“I did not provide the Yorktown administration with the opportunity to fully complete their internal fact-finding related to the incident before I communicated the information from our fact-finding to the Somers community,” Blanch said. “In no way was it my intention to implicate the entire Yorktown boys’ lacrosse team.”

Yorktown’s boys team defeated Garden City 5-4 in double overtime in the New York Class B state semifinals on Wednesday at SUNY Albany and will play two-time state champ Victor for the state title on Saturday at St. John Fisher College in Rochester.
