Make Adelphi Great Again?
The Adelphi University men’s lacrosse team may want to consider adopting a variation of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign slogan.
After all, the Adelphi team uses for its pre-game mixtape a recorded speech from Trump just before running onto the field for games. You can watch a brief video clip here.
As with all things Trump, it’s created controversy and forced the university to issue a statement that reads:
“The men’s lacrosse team’s regular season pre-game warm-up music is selected as a team and approved for use so long as they do not contain vulgarity or inappropriate subject matter. The songs they proposed and used this season meet those guidelines. As such, we are obliged to follow the policy.”
Adelphi coach Gordon Purdie said the warm-up audio of Trump “was not intended to provoke or be taken as a political statement. We’re sorry if anyone was offended.”
Adelphi hosts Pace University on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament in Garden City on Long Island. There has been no word if the “Make America Great Again” Trump soundbite will once again mark the team’s entrance onto the field.
