A senior lacrosse standout from the Hudson Valley who suffered serious injuries in a crash late Thursday night off Route 9 in Dutchess County has been released from the hospital.

Liam O’Farrell, 18, who was a passenger in the vehicle, is a senior at Red Hook High School, where he is a longstick midfielder on the school’s boys lacrosse team.

MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie confirmed that Liam O’Farrell, 18, was released to his home on Monday, hospital spokeswoman Angela Mather told Daily Voice in a story published Tuesday you can read here.

A three-sport standout, the 5-foot-10, 156-pound O’Farrell is also a member of Red Hook’s varsity wrestling team and played varsity soccer this past fall.

Also seriously injured was the driver of the 2004 Nissan 350Z, 17-year-old Erik Johnson, another Red Hook High School student. He is listed in stable condition at Albany Medical Center, according to Daily Voice.

Both were wearing seatbelts, and at this time, the primary factor appears to be unsafe speed, the Dutchess County sheriff’s office said.

A candlelight vigil was held for O’Farrell and Johnson at Red Hook High School’s soccer field Wednesday evening. For more, click here.
