For many college-bound athletes, the selection of an academic major comes after their selection of a college.
Manhasset (NY) Class of 2017 two-way midfielder Luke Postiglione’s commitment to Hartford, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section, came largely in part because of Hartford’s Physical Therapy program.
A major in that concentration seems appropriate who the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Postiglione, who plays the game with a physical style.
The three-sport standout natural righty, he can shot with both hands.
He is also an outstanding student, having made Manhasset’s Honor Roll and being a recipient of the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete award and scoring a 31 on the ACT and was team captain of Manhasset’s JV team.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Luke on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
I like the program that Hartford has built and I have a lot of respect for the coaches. I am most attracted to Hartford’s accelerated Physical Therapy Program.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
Bucknell, UMass and Binghamton.
Have you decided what academic major you plan to pursue?
Physical therapy,
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My strengths as a player are my determination and my work ethic. I’d describe my play as a quick dodger with a strong, fast shot.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I grew up playing lacrosse since preschool in Manhasset. I also play football and basketball.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for LI Express Team Schreiber.
Showcase events I participated in were: Long Island Showcase Nassau vs. Suffolk game, Jake Reed 2015 and 2016, Team Stars and Stripes, NE Invitational all-star/all-tournament team, Super Sophs all-star team, u15 National Championship semifinalist
Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
Lacrosse has always been a big part of my life. I’d like to thank my family for all of their support and all of the training and life lessons learned over the years from all of my coaches.
