We had a big upset in NY/NJ/CT playoff action Friday that could be a harbinger of more to come in this age of parity.

No. 9-seeded Walt Whitman stunned West Islip 6-5 in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals in what is believed to be the first time a top seed has lost in the Section 11 Class A Round of Eight.

Suffolk Class B will be playing its opening round games today.

We also have one big interstate regular season game as CT power Fairfield Prep visits the top-ranked team in NJ in the LaxLessons Tristate Top 25, Delbarton.

But the big story is playoff action with quarterfinals in the FCIAC (CT) and semifinals in Section 1 (NY), which is made up of Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess counties. Section 1 winners play in a championship tripleheader Wednesday, May 25 at White Plains High School.
