cteitelbaum

Colton Teitelbaum of Locust Valley High School on Long Island has achieved a first.

Teitelbaum, a goaltender, has become the first 2019 tristate commit for Loyola. a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

Colton’s older brother, Chre Teitelbaum, was the goalie on the 2013  Friends Academy team that won its first Nassau County Championship, beating Cold Spring Harbor in the final.

A strong communicator, the 5-foot-10, 158-pound Teitelbaum, a righty, is an outstanding stopper who uses his body and well as his stick and quick hands to make stops.

Recruiting abstractNow, here’s a Q&A with Colton on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
The fine reputation of Loyola both academically and athletically were key considerations. In the end, the coaching staff was the real catalyst in my decision.

Have you decided what academic major you plan to pursue?
The Sellinger School of Business and Management will offer me a wide range of choices.

What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
My ability to adapt to certain situations on the fly. I would describe my style of play as active but relaxed and not always trying to make the home run play.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
I expect to improve in all areas.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
My older brother was a strong influence on me playing the sport at a young age.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for Long Island Express Schwalje and I attended Jake Reed last summer.

Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I’d like to thank my family for being extremely supportive throughout this whole process as well as my whole life.

My Express coaches Schwalje, Berry and Grant have been most supportive as well as our program director Coach Chanenchuk. They have always encouraged me to play my very best.

I’ve been fortunate enough to train with Drew Adams (Goalie for New York Lizards, Team USA) and Brian Dougherty (former Lizard,Team USA) and I want to thank them for their leadership and teaching skills which have added to my play in a large way.

Most recently Coach Keith Cromwell (head coach at Locust Valley H.S.) has expressed great confidence in me as a freshman.
