Chris Connolly’s lacrosse journey has already taken him to varsity teams in two states.

The rising junior attackman, now at Trinity-Pawling (NY) is a transfer from Xaverian HS (CT).

His next lacrosse stop will be a bit to the Northeast.

The feeder/finisher, a native of Glastonbury, CT, verbally committed earlier this week to UMass, a decision first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.

The 5-foot-8, 160-pound Connolly is coming off a spectacular 52-goal, 59-assist season at Xaverian (in 19 games).

Recruiting abstractNow, here’s a Q&A with Chris on his commitment.

What were the main factors in your decision?
The biggest factor was the proximity of UMass to my house. I love the fact that my parents will be able to attend my games.

What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
The other schools I visited and I considered were High Point University, University of Vermont and Providence College.

Have you decided what academic major you plan to pursue?
I am going to pursue a major in Business.

cconnollytweetWhat are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I would say that I have a pass-first mentality, but given the opportunity to score I will bury.

I’m a gritty, hard working player that isn’t afraid to get hit to make a play. And most importantly I’m a team player that will do anything to win.

What area of your game do you need to work on?
An area that I need to work on would be scoring in tight with my off hand.

How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I got introduced to lacrosse by a family friend that was throwing a ball around with a buddy. I thought it looked fun so I picked up a stick and never looked back.

I am also a big hockey player. I was a hockey-first type person up until a few years ago when I realized my lacrosse ability overtook my hockey ability.

What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I played for D Squared. We played in the Hotbeds Tournament, the Legacy Tournament, as well as the Albany Power Tournament.

Individually, I participated in the Maverick Showtime Showcase and The Under Armour Underclassman Tryout.

Any final thoughts and people you want to thank for helping you reach this point?
I’d like to thank my family for the time and effort that they put forth to make this possible. I would also like to thank Coach (Nic) Bell at Trinity Pawling School for the time he put in to get me the exposure I needed. Lastly I’d like to thank God for the athletic talent I have been given.
