From press release
The best U-13 boys lacrosse players in the world deserve the best facilities, gear and competition for the first-ever Warrior World Series Of Youth Lacrosse Presented by The Coca-Cola Company. They also deserve to be playing in 90 million homes courtesy of ESPN2.
The championship game of the World Series of Youth Lacrosse airs live on ESPN2 on Saturday, July 4 at 3 p.m. EST from Sports Authority Field at Mile High, led by legendary lacrosse broadcasters and the original talent team for Major League Lacrosse: Quint Kessenich and Joe Beninati.
The hour-and-a-half broadcast will feature a powerful look at the Denver City Lax program five years after the release of the award-winning documentary “City Lax: An Urban Lacrosse Story”. World Series of Youth Lacrosse founder Jake Steinfeld also interviewed MLL stars Rob Pannell and Paul Rabil looking at their origins as youth lacrosse players, and seven-time NCAA Champion head coach Bill Tierney of the University of Denver Pioneers.
“This broadcast is going to be phenomenal: truly ground-breaking for lacrosse,” said Steinfeld, also the founder of MLL. “This event is all about One Time, One Team, One Dream, and we’re giving these young players the experience of a lifetime, from the equipment to the NFL stadium to the media coverage from ESPN2 and our guys Joe and Quint. These players have grown up watching MLL, and they’re getting the MLL treatment this week in Denver.”
Round-robin and playoff play will run from July 2-4 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (site of the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships), with the top two teams advancing to Saturday afternoon’s final at the home of the Denver Broncos and Outlaws. The 30,000-plus fans attending Saturday night’s Outlaws-Boston Cannons game will have access to the World Series Championship Game.
“We’re really making history here for lacrosse,” said Kessenich, who grew up playing youth lacrosse on Long Island before becoming an All-American at Johns Hopkins. “The lessons I learned playing youth lacrosse carried with me my entire career. The experience these kids are getting in the World Series is going to be unforgettable.”
The best U-13 boys teams in the country will compete in the first World Series event: 3d Select Colorado, C2C Dallas, Baltimore Lacrosse Club Crabs, Denver Elite, Eclipse Lacrosse Club (Conn.), Leading Edge Elite 2020 (N.J.), Michigan Warriors, Rising Sons Lacrosse (Penn.), Team 91 Crush (N.Y.) and Team Carolina.
All players competing in the World Series of Youth Lacrosse will receive never-before-seen Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse apparel, including game shorts, a tech T-shirt and a hoodie, as well as a branded gear bag. In addition, all players will receive an official commemorative Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse stick. The two teams in the Championship Game will dress in NFL/MLL locker rooms and be outfitted in special Championship uniforms provided by Warrior.
In addition to competing in the event, players will participate in clinics hosted by members of the Denver Outlaws, attend autograph sessions with Outlaws players and other Major League Lacrosse stars and attend a banquet at Sports Authority Field at Mile High the night before the Championship Game. The event will conclude with all players being acknowledged at halftime of the Denver Outlaws versus Boston Cannons MLL game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The Laxworm Radio Experience will broadcast 24 live games from the World Series of Youth Lacrosse, beginning Thursday at 8 a.m. MST.
Make sure to purchase your tickets now for the Outlaws-Cannons game, which includes free admission to the World Series of Youth Lacrosse Championship and a huge fireworks celebration to celebrate the Fourth of July.
