The World Series of Youth Lacrosse is being played at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Denver.
From press release
History will be made Saturday in Denver when the top youth lacrosse teams in the world square off for the championship of the inaugural Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse Presented by The Coca-Cola Company.
The top seeds are Team 91 Crush out of the National Division and Baltimore Lacrosse Club Crabs out of the American Division. Both went undefeated in pool play during the first two days of competition at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, home of the 2014 FIL World Championships.
91 Crush (Long Island, N.Y.) will play 3d Select Colorado, and the Crabs (Baltimore, Md.) will play Rising Sons Lacrosse (Penn.) in the World Series Semifinals at 8 a.m. MST on Saturday. The winners of those games advance toSaturday’s first-ever World Series of Youth Lacrosse Championship at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The game will air live on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. MST (3 EST).
“The competition out here has been absolutely mind-blowing,” said World Series founder Jake Steinfeld, also the founder of Major League Lacrosse. “These kids are playing for the dream of being the first-ever World Champions of youth lacrosse, and they’re playing hard and with tremendous respect for the game. Between the ESPN cameras, amazing Warrior swag and the city of Denver being a great host, this event has been first-class all the way around and we couldn’t be prouder of all our teams.”
In the consolation games Saturday morning, Michigan Warriors will play Denver Elite, Leading Edge (N.J.) will play Team Carolina (N.C.) and Eclipse Lacrosse Club (Conn.) will play C2C Dallas in games at 9:30 a.m.
ESPN2’s hour-and-a-half broadcast Saturday will feature a powerful look at the Denver City Lax program five years after the release of the award-winning documentary “City Lax: An Urban Lacrosse Story”. Steinfeld also interviewed MLL stars Rob Pannell and Paul Rabil looking at their origins as youth lacrosse players, and seven-time NCAA Champion head coach Bill Tierney of the University of Denver Pioneers.
The 30,000-plus fans attending Saturday night’s Outlaws-Boston Cannons game will have access to the World Series Championship Game.
All players competing in the World Series of Youth Lacrosse received never-before-seen Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse apparel, including game shorts, a tech T-shirt and a hoodie, as well as a branded gear bag. In addition, all players received an official commemorative Warrior World Series of Youth Lacrosse stick. The two teams in the Championship Game will dress in NFL/MLL locker rooms and be outfitted in special Championship uniforms provided by Warrior.
In addition to competing in the event, players participated in a Skills Competition, attended autograph sessions with Outlaws players and other Major League Lacrosse stars and attended a banquet at Sports Authority Field at Mile High the night before the Championship Game. The event will conclude with all players being acknowledged at halftime of the Denver Outlaws versus Boston Cannons MLL game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The Laxworm Radio Experience will broadcast a total of 24 live games by the end of the World Series of Youth Lacrosse, providing live worldwide coverage of this historic event.
Make sure to purchase your tickets now for the Outlaws-Cannons game, which includes free admission to the World Series of Youth Lacrosse Championship and a huge fireworks celebration to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Plans are underway to expand the World Series of Youth Lacrosse, with the addition of a girls tournament, international teams and a series of qualifying events in 2016 and eventually a combined participation of 50,000 players.
Major sponsors of the World Series of Youth Lacrosse include The Coca-Cola Company and Warrior Lacrosse. Partners include Wheels Up, MET-Rx, Body by Jake, EDGE Sports and Entertainment, the Denver Outlaws organization and Kumu.
