It will be a historic title no matter what happens today.
Maryland won its last and second overall national title 40 years ago in 1975.
Denver has never won a national title.
The two teams face off for the Division I at 1 p.m. today at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
If you’re not on hand in Philly, you can watch the action on ESPN2 and WatchESPN. The game will also air on ESPNU via the Spider Cam feed – an alternate viewing fan experience.
Eamon McAnaney (play-by-play), Quint Kessenich (analyst) and Paul Carcaterra (analyst/sideline) comprise the broadcast team.
During their college careers, Kessenich (Johns Hopkins goalkeeper) and Carcaterra (Syracuse midfielder) both helped their teams earn four NCAA Championship berths and each won a national title with their respective teams.
Denver can also become the western-most team to win a national title. Only nine schools have won the 44 NCAA Lacrosse Championship titles, with North Carolina the western-most school to do so.
