Denver became the western-most team to win a national title on Monday as the Pioneers turned in a stellar defensive effort in a 10-5 win over Maryland in the Division I men’s lacrosse national title game at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Only 10 schools have now won the 45 NCAA Lacrosse Championship titles, with Denver the latest and first from a state that does not border the Atlantic Coast. North Carolina had been the most western-most school to win a title prior to Denver’s win Monday.
