Before we run down today’s big games, a quick back to Wednesday.
The CHSAA Nassau-Suffolk AAA title went to Chaminade for the third straight year. The Flyers beat St. Anthony’s 15-7 as junior Brendon Luu won 21-of-26 faceoffs to earn MVP honors. A look at Chaminade’s post-game celebration is pictured here.
It’s title time in Section 1 in New York’s Hudson Valley — and the field of six finalists in three classes includes two defending state champs: Yorktown (Class B) and Bronxville (Class C).
Bronxville has beaten Pleasantville in each of the last two sectional finals but fell to the Panthers 10-8 on April 15. It was Bronxville’s only loss against a Section 1 opponent in 2015.
Here’s the rundown of games at White Plains High School’s Glenn D. Loucks Field:
Class A: Mahopac vs. Mamaroneck, 3 p.m.
Class C: Pleasantville vs. Bronxville, 5:30 p.m.
Class B: Yorktown vs. John Jay, 8 p.m.
Section 11 (Suffolk County) Class A in New York determined its finalists yesterday. Today, classes B and C will cut down its Final Fours to just two.
Here’s the lineup:
Class B: Sayville at Shoreham-Wading River, Eastport-South Manor at Mount Sinai
Class C: Center Moriches at Babylon, Mattituck at Port Jefferson
It’s also a busy day of NJSIAA playoff action in New Jersey.
Among the matchups, No. 3 Caldwell at No. 2 Glen Ridge in the Group 1 semifinals and Northern Highlands at Ridgewood in Group 3.
