Interstate showdowns are usually reserved for Saturdays, if, for no other reason, than the longer travel required.
But Connecticut state power Ridgefield will be leaving right after school today to arrive in plenty of time for its 6 p.m. game at nationally ranked Ward Melville, which went unbeaten and won the New York state title in 2013.
