It was a wet start to the week in tristate boys varsity lacrosse — and it was a relatively light schedule.
Mostly noteworthy, two teams improved to 10-0 on Long Island — Lynbrook, an 8-5 winner over Patchogue-Medford, and Half Hollow Hills East, a 12-6 winner over Patchogue-Medford. The strong defensive effort is especially noteworthy since the Thunderbirds lost Syracuse University-bound defensive star Nick DiPietro to a torn ACL last week.
Turning to today, there are some big matchups in New Jersey and Connecticut and an intriguing interstate contest between two teams that have been longtime regular-season competitors, New Canaan (CT) and Ridgewood (CT).
