The first full day of action of the 2015 tristate varsity season wound up being an interesting one.
All the games were in Nassau County on Long Island:
* Led by Mac O’Keefe’s five goals, Syosset beat Garden City 9-7. It was the eighth straight year GC opened the season vs. the Braves and only the second loss during the span, with the last coming in 2009.
* 2014 Long Island Class B champ Lynbrook launched 2015 with a 12-7 win over Locust Valley, building a 10-3 halftime lead. Ryan Candel had three goals and two assists, Owen Daly four goals and Gordon Purdy one goal and four assists.
* Michael Osmundsen had four goals, Brian Lang has three goals and one assist and Luke Walker three goals as Hicksville beat Oyster Bay 13-8.
Wednesday is highlighted by a season-opening game between two of the premier programs in Section 8 as Manhasset visits Cold Spring Harbor at 7 p.m.
