Shoreham-Wading River (NY) will be looking to bounce back this spring.
The Wildcats went 9-8 in 2014 after an 18-2 season in 2013 that ended in the Class B state semifinals.
How does SWR look in 2015?
For more on the Wildcats, we checked in with one of the top offensive players on Long Island, attackman/midfielder Ryan Bray, who placed high in LaxLessons.com’s Top 100 preseason player rankings.
Bray, a senior, switched his college choice to Cornell University from Ohio State.
Now, here are Ryan’s perspectives on the upcoming season.
What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
This off season, I’ve been getting into the gym a lot, and running much more then I have in the past. I’ve also been shooting and going to the wall with other guys as well.
How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
Our schedule this year is very similar to last year.
I always look forward to going against Miller Place. They have great talent and it is always a competitive matchup.
What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
Some of the younger guys will catch the eyes of some people, Chris Gray and Joe Miller, have great opportunities to have big impacts this season.
Also, Steven Weindler at the faceoff X will turn a lot of heads.
What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
I see the strengths of our team this year as being our unselfish and ruthless play.
When things aren’t flowing as they were sought out to, those are the two things a team can always ride on.
How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
Teams like Rocky Point, Miller Place, and Sayville are always at the top, but any team has a chance to get the division.
