If you were with us on our Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section, you know one of the big recruiting stories in the offseason in the NY/NJ/CT hotspot, has been the late addition to Syracuse’s 2015 recruiting class from one of New Jersey’s top attackmen, Alec Orazietti of Watchung Hills.
Before joining the Orange, Orazietti is anxiously awaiting his final varsity season.
He hopes it’s a breakthrough one for the Warriors, who have been on the cusp of contention the last two seasons. This past spring,Watchung Hills beat a Sparta team that finished 19-3 in finishing 10-8.
Now here are Alec’s perspectives on the upcoming season.
What have you been doing to get ready for the season?
I work out with a private trainer four times a week. That includes speed training, agility and weights. I also shoot two times a week.
Our team plays in winter league on Sundays.
How does your schedule look, what games are you looking forward to most, and who are some of your scrimmages against?
We play Sachem East at Rutgers. (Watchung Hills Head) Coach (Jamie) Lovejoy is trying to get us more Long Island teams since he is from there.
We scrimmage St. Peter’s Prep and Madison.
What players on your team do you think will surprise some people this season?
We have five D-I commits and two D-III commits. Two that I think will surprise people this year are Jack Ayre (Rutgers) and Shaun Mulaney (Holy Cross).
We have two lock-down defenders in Jordan Rothenberg (Ithaca) and Chris Irving ( Salisbury)
What do you think the strength of your team will be this year?
Our midfield with Ryan Cunningham (Rutgers) and Tyler Furlong (Lafayette) will be a force to be reckoned with.
How do you view the race in your league and who do you think some of the contending teams will be?
Group 4 is one of the toughest groups in NJ with Bridgewater-Raritan, Westfield, Hunterdon Central and Ridge.
