The already strong connection between the Prunty brothers and Siena College lacrosse has gotten even stronger.
That’s because Lakeland/Panas HS (NY) attackman/midfielder Kevin Prunty committed to the Saints, where he will follow the lead of brothers Conor and Brian, as first reported by Joe Lombardi on LaxLessons.com’s Lacrosse Insider premium coverage section.
Conor is a senior midfielder at Siena. Brian is now a freshman at Siena.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Kevin Prunty, a righty, is a versatile and athletic dodger who is strong with both hands.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Kevin on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
The coaching staff was great on my visit and the campus is very nice. Having my brothers there helped me be more familiar with knowing the campus and the school in general.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I was also considering Drexel and Monmouth.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
I like to use both hands, dodge hard and see the field for double teams to move the ball to my teammates.
How important a factor was the fact both Conor and Brian picked Siena as their college choice as well?
It was pretty big. It helped me meet the coaching staff, see the campus and know all about Siena lacrosse and all their success in the past years. Knowing I could play two more years with Brian also helped.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I’ve had a stick in my hand for as long as I can remember thanks to my dad who also played lacrosse. I play football for Lakeland High School.
What travel team do you play on what showcase events did you participate in?
I play for my HS club team LP Rebels and I attended Maverik Showtime.
Any final thoughts?
I would like to thank my two coaches, (Lakeland/Panas Head) Coach Jim Lindsay who helped me in the recruiting process and (Assistant) Coach Matt Garcia for all they’ve done for me these past two years and have helped me become the player I am.
I’d also like to thank my football coach (Rob) Cappelli for all he’s done for me as well. My family especially for all the support and helping me through the process.
