The goal of most travel programs is to improve players’ skills and get them exposure so that they have opportunities to play at the next level.
That’s something the directors and coaches at Predators Lacrosse know something about.
All of them have played lacrosse at the Division I college level.
Now, their mission statement is to pool their collective expertise and knowledge for the benefit of its growing group of players from Westchester County in New York, Fairfield County in Connecticut and the entire New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tristate region.
“Our coaching philosophy for playing lacrosse has been the same since we were taught it at Yorktown: Play as family and refuse to lose,” said Predators director Tom Interlicchio, an All-America midfielder at Yorktown who went on to play and captain the team at Hofstra University.
Former Yorktown High School and University of North Carolina standout Mike McCall founded the Predators’ program.
“The Preds’ philosophy is simple: surround the top players in the area with the best coaches,” McCall said. “High school and youth lacrosse has experienced rapid change over the last 10 years. However, we don’t want to lose sight of the constants that transcend any generation.
“Our program focuses on the fundamentals and we couple that with a staff that has unrivaled knowledge, experience and passion for the game.”
To date, the staff’s focus on fine-tuning the fundamentals, coupled with a competitive atmosphere, has helped produce college-ready players who regularly attend the preeminent recruiting events in the country.
“We provide the most elite platform in the area for players to showcase their skills to the nations finest Division I programs,” Interlicchio said.
