Maverik Showtime Lacrosse National Recruiting Spotlight, regarded as the nation’s No. 1 summer showcase, held its all-star games Wednesday night at Western Connecticut State University.
Led by MVP Connor DeSimone of Smithtown East High School (NY), Team Maverik (Red) beat Team Cascade (White) beat 14-8 in the Class of 2017 game, which was halted a half-hour by a lightning delay. DeSimone, who committed to Johns Hopkins in December (becoming Smithtown East’s first-ever freshman commit), had four goals and three assists. Teammate Lucas Quinn (Niskayuna, NY) also had four goals.
Maryland-bound Kevin Snyder led Team Cascade with three goals.
MVP Harrison Bardwell of Wilton High School (CT) had three goals as Team Maverik (White) beat Team Cascade (Blue) 13-11 in the Class of 2016 game. Jack Miller and Sean Emerson each had two goals for Team Maverik and Cullen Morgan had a goal and two assists.
Kevin Quigley of Ridge (NJ) led Team Cascade with three goals.
Travis Ford of Webster Thomas (NY) won the Class of 2016 Maverik Fastest Shooting Competition with a shot clocked at 104 miles per hour.
Bryce Saba of Wayne Central (NY) took the 2017 Fastest Shooting Competition with a shot clock at 98 miles per hour.
