Connecticut power Ridgefield has wins over a pair of New York state powers in Garden City and Yorktown. Now it hopes to beat one of the top teams in New Jersey — and do it for the second straight year. Ridgefield (8-1) hosts Summit (13-1) at 4:30 p.m. at Tiger Hollow Stadium. The Tigers defeated the Hilltoppers 7-6 last season.
In another interstate showdown, defending Connecticut Class L state champion Fairfield Prep (6-2) plays CHSAA AAA (NY) power St. Anthony’s (9-3) at Breezy Park on Oakwood Road in Huntington at 4:30 p.m.
It’s a full day of county playoff action in New Jersey. Among the more interesting matchups, Don Bosco Prep visits St. Augustine Prep at 5 p.m. and Chatham plays at Bridgewater-Raritan at 5:30 p.m.
In the CHSAA, new member Kennedy Catholic (NY) faces Fordham Prep (NY). Kennedy Catholic’s addition to the CHSAA means Fordham Prep and Iona Prep (NY) are only meeting once in the regular season so they can each add games against Kennedy Catholic.
