We start on Long Island.
There’s no rivalry quite like it. Just say its name, and you need say no more. Woodstick Classic.
The age-old and tradition-rich showdown of two of the nation’s premier programs will be renewed today for the 125th time as Garden City and Manhasset meet at GC at 4:30 p.m. ‘Set won the regular-season meeting last year before the Trojans took Round 2, which was in the Nassau County title game.
Another one of the region’s top rivalries will be played in Northern Westchester as Yorktown faces Lakeland/Panas for the Charlie Murphy Cup. Game-time is 5:30 p.m. at Lakeland High School.
In one of Connecticut’s premier rivalries, two of the state’s top title contenders, Darien and New Canaan, meet at 3 p.m. at Darien.
In a big CT vs. LI matchup, Greenwich hosts Chaminade at 3 p.m. Both teams are 9-1.
Bronxville hosts John Jay in a 5 p.m. clash of Section 1 (NY) powers.
There’s a big Nassau vs. Suffolk clash on Long Island as Huntington hosts Cold Spring Harbor.
In a matchup of New Jersey powers, Bridgewater-Raritan plays at Mountain Lakes.
Also in New Jersey, Bergen Catholic hosts Kinnelon and Chatham hosts Hunterdon Central.
Two-time Section 1 (NY) Class A champ Mamaroneck hosts Connecticut Class L state finalist Staples and red-hot Somers hosts Rye at 7:30 p.m.
