HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra men’s lacrosse team returns home to James M. Shuart Stadium to begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday when the Pride hosts the 17th-ranked Stags of Fairfield University. Game time is 3 p.m.

LL2014HSGAMEDAYThe game will be broadcast live on radio on WRHU-FM 88.7 with Julian Coltre and Anthony Santaniello calling the action beginning with the pregame show at 2:45. The game can also be viewed and heard worldwide on the internet in the PRIDEZONE at GoHofstra.com. In addition, Tuesday’s game will also be televised by FiOS 1 Sports on a tape delay basis. Check your local listing for the time of airing.

Tickets for the contest, as well as season ticket information, can be obtained online at GoHofstra.com/tix or by calling (516) HOF-TIXX (463-8499). Individual game tickets are priced at $16 for reserved (chair-back) seats, $10 for adult general admission and $6 for youth under-12 and senior citizen general admission.

Hofstra (0-2) is coming off a 12-10 loss at #10 Princeton last Saturday. The Pride built an 8-4 lead in the third quarter only to see the Tigers come roaring back by scoring eight of the next nine goals to down Hofstra for the third consecutive time.

Pride sophomore Sam Llinares continued his fine play with his second straight five-point contest, posting three goals and two assists. Senior Lance Yapor and red-shirt sophomore Korey Hendrickson each tallied two goals for the Pride. Junior Chris Selva made 10 saves, including seven in the second half, for Hofstra. The Pride outshot the Tigers, 41-29 and had the ground ball advantage, 30-22.

Hofstra is led in scoring by Llinares, who now has five goals and five assists in the two contests. Yapor has added four goals and Hendrickson has chipped in with three. Senior attackman Torin Varn and junior midfielder Mike Malave each added two goals.  Selva has an 11.50 goals against average with 17 saves this season in the Pride cage.

The Stags of Fairfield enter Tuesday afternoon’s game against the Pride with a 2-0 record and ranked 17th in the USILA Coaches Poll and 18th in the Warrior Lacrosse Media Poll. Fairfield has wins over Delaware (18-8) and Manhattan (18-4) this season. The Stags, who ranked second in the nation in offense (18.0 gpg) and sixth in defense (6.00), return 26 lettermen, including eight starters from last year’s 8-7 squad.

Fairfield is led in scoring by junior attackman Tristan Sperry with seven goals and four assists. Senior attackman Eric Warden leads the team with eight goals and has added one assist. Freshman midfielder Jake Knostman has chipped in with four goals and one assist while sophomore attackman Conor Dalton has added four goals. Senior goalie Jack Murphy has posted a 5.69 goals against average and a .643 save percentage while playing in 105 of the 120 minutes of playing time this season.

Tuesday’s game is the fifth meeting between Hofstra and Fairfield. The Pride lead the series, 3-1.The two teams met last on Feb. 26, 2013 in Fairfield with the Pride posting a 9-2 victory.
