For our latest Class of 2015 commitment, we travel beyond the tristate, and in fact, beyond the Northeast, and all the way down to Tallahassee, Fla., where MacLay School attackman Stephen Chase has made his choice after drawing interest from many of the nation’s premier programs.
Chase has verbally committed to Notre Dame.
A two-time all-star at Maverik Showtime National Recruiting Spotlight the last two years and the Battle of the Hotbeds this past summer, Chase also represented the South region in the 2013 Under Armour Underclass Games.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Chase, a lefty, is a pure scorer who is equally effective as a feeder and finisher. He is originally from the Syracuse area.
Now, here’s a Q&A with Stephen on his commitment.
What were the main factors in your decision?
Notre Dame has great academics and I really like the coaches along with the campus and facilities.
What other schools were you considering and what schools did you visit?
I considered Brown, Syracuse, Duke, Cornell and Yale. I visited Brown, Duke, Yale, Syracuse, Cornell and Georgetown.
What are your strengths as a player and how would you describe your style of play?
Shooting and feeding.
What area of your game do you need to work on?
I need to work on my dodging.
How did you get introduced to lacrosse and what other sports have you played?
I was introduced to lacrosse at a young age by my dad and grew up around the sport.
What travel teams do you play on?
I play for Team Florida and Orange Crush, based out of Syracuse, N.Y. In the summer, I also play for the Onondaga Red Hawks Indoor Lacrosse team.
