Ben DeLuca is out after three years as head coach of Cornell University’s men’s lacrosse team.
The firing comes following a hazing scandal that led to Cornell cancelling the fall season.
In a press release posted this afternoon, Cornell stated, “While Cornell University recognizes the contributions DeLuca has made to our nationally ranked lacrosse program as a player and assistant coach, it is the university’s belief that new leadership is required to best serve our students and to continue our lacrosse program’s decades-long tradition of excellence.”
Cornell also announced in the press release that assistant Matt Kerwick has been named interim head coach.
