Garden City leads Miller Place 1-0 after one in the LI Class B title game (state quarterfinals) at Hofstra. Goal by Guterding, his 50th.
Garden City has taken a 2-0 lead early in the second on a man-down goal by Cody George.
With GC defense, this one could be a shutout or an 8-1 type game atleast.
It’s now 4-0 GC midway through the second. Dale Stasco and Lucas Clay have the last two Trojan tallies.
James Nielsen scores for Miller Place with just over four minutes left before halftime. 4-1.
Halftime in the Long Island Championship Class B game: Garden City 5, Miller Place 2
Hard to call an LIC a “trap” game but coming off Woodstick 2 and before Niskayuna in state semis that’s just what this is. One of GC’s worst played halves but still in control. Look for the D to kick it up a notch in the 2nd half.
Hamburg becomes NY’s first state semifinalist for 2013, beating Canandaigua 12-3 in the upstate Class B quarterfinals.
Hamburg is a suburb of Buffalo, right next to Orchard Park – not Rochester.
A patch of heavy thunderstorms in Albany area has resulted in the scheduled 3:30 p.m. starting time for Niskayuna-Cornwall being delayed.
The game is now expected to start at 4 p.m. at the University at Albany.

Wilton holds on to win 7-6. The Warriors will now play the Guilford/New Fairfield winner in Wednesday’s semis. This marks the first time in 25 years the Blue Wave will not be in the state semifinals.
Staples, which has lost to Greenwich twice this season, leads 4-3 at the half of the teams’ Division L state quarterfinal.
No scoring in the third. Staples still leads Greenwich 4-3, now heading into the fourth.
Staples holds on for a 6-5 upset win. Wreckers will play Simsbury/Southington winner in semis on Wednesday at a site and time TBD.
