HSNote_600x400_01_12With three nationally ranked teams, including defending state champion Garden City, Yorktown and unbeaten Niskayuna, the race for the title in New York Class B may be as competitive as any in the nation.

Survive-and-advance battles between Garden City and Manhasset as well as Yorktown and Niskayuna will be played in the next few days.

That’s among the topics in Joe Lombardi’s latest column on tristate lacrosse for InsideLacrosse.com.

Should be a good one. I’ll say GC 8-5.

    Set 7, GC 6 … OT

First I know Nisky beat JD by one goal earlier this season, but it really looks like one side of the B bracket is really loaded this year. Town and Nisky could be the 2 best B teams in NY so after they beat the crap out of each other then get to Play LI (GC, Man,Wogue) who already have to beat up each other to get to that point. Then Li vs Sect 1/2. Besides JD I don’t see a lot of depth, Hamburg, Canandagigua don’t look that strong this year so JD just waits for their one strong team in the finals while the other side of the bracket beats up each other. If Nisky makes it I think the score of the game is the other way with JD winning. But I’m taking Town in this one, good long poles and Prestreau is a big match up problem.

I agree with you both about today’s game with Town vs. Nisky and on how it pays to be JD when it comes to the state tournament. Having to go through Nisky and then the LI champ can be both physically and emotionally exhausting and that’s if your somehow able to win.

Nisky is no joke this year and will have scouted Town a ton. They will have a packed in defense that will look to frustrate Town’s typical game plan and force them to make mistakes. Town will have to find those small windows for outside shots and hit them and execute on transition which I think they will be able to do. Face offs will be huge as will time of possession. Town is more talented than Nisky all around, but Nisky is notorious for beating teams like that. They slowly and methodically strangle you. But this Town team can be ferocious, so Im saying:

      Town 10 Niskayuna 9

Two very good teams………….Nisky 12 Town 9 Go Nisky!!!!
